HÀ NỘI – All the deputies of the National Assembly (AN) agreed on Friday to halve the environmental protection tax on jet fuel from today, the aviation sector being hit hard by COVID-19.
Lawmakers voted on the resolution at the NA Standing Committee meeting on Friday.
The tax will be set at 1,500 VN per liter from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 and will drop to VNĐ 3,000 from January 1, 2023.
This is aimed at increasing levels of state support for aviation companies severely affected by the pandemic.
AN MPs agreed that the national aviation sector will be able to gradually recover in 2022 despite the challenges and unexpected development of the pandemic. The international aviation market will need more time to recover.
From July 2020 to the end of 2021, the environmental protection tax on kerosene was reduced by 30%.
Finance Minister Hồ Đức Phớc said halving the tax was an appropriate solution in relation to state policies to support businesses affected by COVID, contributing to post socio-economic recovery and development. -pandemic.
The reduction will also help encourage the growth of other high-tech economic sectors such as trade, tourism and services.
On the same day, legislators gave for the second time a feedback on fiscal and monetary policies for the implementation of the program of stimulus and socio-economic development.
At the opening session of the 6th session of the NA Standing Committee at the beginning of last month, NA President Vương Đình Huệ said that the project on building mechanisms, fiscal and monetary policies to support the implementation implementation of socio-economic recovery and development would be discussed at the first extraordinary session of the 15th NA in January
